Financial summary
A 2022 external evaluation described PBI UK as ‘a strong human rights organisation punching above its weight on a small budget’.
We are proud to offer our donors exceptional value for money. However, in the face of increasing demands for support, rising inflation, and a desire to offer the best quality activities and impact, we have set ourselves the target of doubling our 2022 income by 2026.
We are extremely grateful to our donors who are enabling us to stay on track for that target and to provide the support for human rights defenders.
On 31st December 2024 we were holding reserves of £363,491.
Recognising that this represents approximately 12 months of spending (at 2024 levels), we have adopted a financial strategy to bring our reserves levels down in the medium term to approximately 6 months of planned expenditure.
This was not possible in 2024 due to a large unexpected legacy donation in the last months of the financial year.
A further point to note is that approximately 25% of our income was paid/sub-granted to other PBI entities and to other collaborative organisations in 2024.
In 2024 our income totalled £386,863, categorised into:
Donations and grants from trusts and corporations £296,425
Individual donations and gift aid £30,505
Legacies £57,500
Interest received £2,433
Our 2024 expenditure totalled £352,946 categorised into:
Payments to PBI projects and entities £72,781
Advocacy £127,397
Outreach £39,431
Volunteers £17,106
Fundraising £56,624
Grants to collaborative organisations £22,500
Governance £17,106
