Andrew Anderson joins PBI UK as Chair of Board

We are delighted to announce that Andrew Anderson has joined Peace Brigades International (PBI) UK as Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Andrew brings with him over thirty years experience of international human rights work. Before his recent retirement, Andrew was Executive Director of Front Line Defenders, which provides practical support to at risk human rights activists around the world. Prior to that, he was the organisation’s Deputy Director. He is also a former Director of Campaigning and Director of the Africa Program at the International Secretariat of Amnesty International.

Upon joining the Board, Andrew said “I have always had huge respect for the work of PBI to protect human rights defenders and it is an honour to take on this role”

Andrew was previously a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Applied Human Rights at the University of York, the Board of Trustees of the Tactical Technology Collective (Tactical Tech) and the Board of Trustees of the Sudan Social Development Organisation UK. He was also was the founding Chair of The EU's human rights defender mechanism, ProtectDefenders.eu, of which PBI is a part.

He joins a strong Board of Trustees made up of experts in law, human rights, environmental campaigning, human resources and financial management.
