Legislative Change: The 2024 passage of Law 2364 - the first in the world to protect women searching for the disappeared.

Yanette Bautista was just 27 when her sister Nydia was forcibly disappeared during Colombia’s devastating armed conflict. She was murdered by state authorities and her whereabouts concealed. For over 30 years, Peace Brigades International has stood alongside Yanette as she fights for justice, and protection for women searching for lost loved ones.

Indigenous Land Rights: Revocation of palm oil permits covering 90,000 hectares of Moi ancestral land.

Indonesia is the world’s largest palm oil exporter. Between 2001 and 2017 commercial ventures destroyed more than 24 million hectares of the country’s tree cover - an area nearly the size of the United Kingdom. Alumni of Peace Brigades International’s pioneering human rights courses in Indonesia are now leading the fight to protect the Indigenous communities who call these forests home.
