‘In The Company Of Hope’
PBI UK launches inspiring short film about what it means to be a volunteer in PBI’s Front Line Teams, providing protective accompaniment to human rights defenders at risk.
Explore the impactful world of human rights defenders and the role of Peace Brigades International (PBI) in the new short film "In The Company Of Hope." Through the video, you can join us on a journey of solidarity, resilience, and justice.
The film, commissioned by PBI UK and made by Charlotte Ginsborg Helen Selka, was launched at an event at which human rights defenders and former front line volunteers spoke about their experience of receiving and providing PBI’s signature holistic protective accompaniment.
PBI’s model has evolved since it was first pioneered in 1981, but what makes PBI unique remains the same. It’s the diverse teams of international volunteers in conflict zones and complicated contexts around the world, wearing the distinctive PBI vest, who are trained to protect threatened activists. They back this presence with outreach and lobbying, with PBI one of the only organisations to advocate at all levels - from the soldier at a local checkpoint to UN leaders. These activities help create the security, policy and political environments in which HRDs can carry out their work. PBI currently has Front Line Teams in eight countries across Latin America, Africa and Asia.
